I'm on Huffington Post!!

Holy macaroni!

I have a post on HuffingtonPost.com

I don't have a sign in or anything, so I don't know how to reply to comments/criticisms, but I find that most of the commentators are answering them for me anyways.

I wish it were a more cheerful one, but it is relevant to what I'm doing writing this blog anyways, and it's very rarely cheerful.

But! This is so great for so many reasons! Now I can say "I'm a freelance writer" without lying (even though it wasn't for pay). It also means I have something to put in my portfolio/resume' as I try to go out and get a few paying jobs.

I was tipped off to this by a reader here, and I just want to say, thanks a million. You gave me a spring board.

I know I don't have a lot of readers, but I appreciate all of you I do have, and I deeply appreciate the comments I've received as help. I can only hope this whole thing is helping someone besides me as well.

  1. Congrats Trisha on this! I just want to suggest that you may want to try and add a "donate" button to your blog-after reading your story and with the increased readership from Huffington Post-I think there are many out there who might donate to you to make things a little easier....

    1. Despite my reservations (I never wanted this to be a "give me money" site) I added one. If anyone feels compelled to donate, I would be foolish to turn it down. Thank you for the suggestion.

  2. Also Trisha-I tried to post this on Huff Post, but strangely, no matter how hard I tried, couldn't seem to set up an account...anyhow-here is what I tried to post on Huff Post....
"While I appreciate that the Huffington Post is featuring this series, has anyone considered how Huff Post themselves may be contributing to the poverty situation in the US? Clearly this series has lots of readers, yet are they paying Trisha a dime for writing this? No, as most of you know they stopped paying writers back when they sold to AOL in 2011 for $315m. Can't Ariana part with a little of that 315 mil to help Trisha buy some food for god sake, given that Trisha is so agreeably providing free content for Ariana to continue to profit from. I mean, really?"

    1. Very good point. Sites like that have become popular through the work of hundreds of writers. Not all of them like me, and desperate, and hoping it will mean a chance at greater things. I did it for free for just that reason.

However, this is the nature of big corporations now. Yes, they are likely contributing to the problem - I just hope the awareness raised has a larger impact.

    1. Hello again Ronald, thank you for the compliments. I am on facebook yes, but if I'm going to keep up my pseudonym, I'd like to add you as Trisha if that's okay. Here's me, but it's pretty barren right now!
